Spring is Here....at least the calendar says so!

Greetings! My apologies once more for my extended time away from blogging on Luke! As some of you know (at least my family)....the last 4 weeks or so have been a trying time for us, especially my hubby! About 4 weeks ago now, David began complaining about his left eye hurting and his head being "sensitive" and sore. Even though he thought it may be a sinus infection or something, it didn't improve. A couple of days later he went to see the Dr. and found out that he had SHINGLES!! Boy, we didn't know what he was in for!! The next week, he really suffered in pain and broke out in the rash on the left side of his face and head. He stayed at his mom's house for a few days where he could TRY to get extra rest in the dark basement. He didn't want to take a chance of giving anything to Luke or myself. Praise the Lord I had gotten Luke vaccinated with the chicken pox vaccine at his 1 year appt!! Long story short.....after the antibiotic, neurontin, and Tramadol for pain, he is still on the road to recovery. The rash is slowly disappearing, but his left eye is still swollen and is the main problem now. He developed a viral infection on his cornea making his eye painful and VERY sensitive. He has missed quite a bit of work and is pretty tired of dealing with the process!! He wears a patch on his eye still and takes it day by day. Praise the Lord the worst is over....I hated seeing him like that! On the sickness front, Luke got a cold 2 weeks ago and got a cute little hoarse voice from the rattling cough. He so nicely (AGAIN) passed it on to me, only I end up with a sinus infection that lasts nearly 2 weeks :( Just not fair!! haha!
On a lighter note, we are otherwise doing great :) Luke continues to do cute stuff all the time. He loves playing with his cars, imitating animal sounds, looking at books, chasing the animals, playing in the dogs water bowl, etc. Still doesn't like hats, shoes, sleeves that are too long, bandaids, coats, collared shirts, ANYTHING restricting!! Weirdo! Overall, he is a VERY good boy! We are truly blessed. He is starting to bite on ocassion, so we've got to put a stop to that right away. He likes to blow on my belly if I'm laying down. Loves "talking" on the phone. Has accidently dialed both grandma's on my or David's cell phone :) Luke definitely has an affinity for music. Anything that has a good rhythm gets his attention right away and he starts dancing/bouncing to it and clapping his hands. That's the only part of Veggie Tales that he'll sit and watch is the music. David and I both love it when we can spend time together with the 3 of us. It doesn't happen very often with our screwy schedules, but it's wonderful when we can hang out!!

I swear I did NOT teach him this.....drinking out of the dog bowl!! Better than the toilet I guess! :)

I asked him to show me his "toofers".....at least he knows they're in his mouth!

Takin a rest!

Luke decided it would be a good idea to climb into his block wagon. He then decided it wasn't such a good idea when he couldn't get out!

Telling secrets to Gumpy....and oh the secrets he has!

Blabberin away....takes after his grandmothers!! :)

Brushin up on his golf game......might be able to beat daddy come summer!

Just a quick picture of the curtains I FINALLY got for the kitchen. We've lived here nearly 5 years now and I had NEVER put anything on that window! It was REALLY starting to bug me!

The BEAUTIFUL tulips that David "won" me at his annual contractor banquet! Tbey add such a nice spring touch! I love fresh flowers.....but I always kill them! :(

Just another pic!

Thought this was pretty with the sun coming in. Holly enjoys the flowers too ( and the SUN)!!

Abigail was being naugty and chewing (I think chewing...hmmm.;) on Luke's stuffed puggle.

Getting ready to go downstairs!!

"I thought I said no pictures.....gimme that camera!"

We weren't able to make it on Easter Sunday to church. I unfortunately had to work, and Luke was still pretty sick so we didn't want to infect others in the nursery. But here he is doing "SO BIG" the week after in his Easter outfit. He really looks like a chunker here!

We can't go anywhere without Mr. Bear!

Gettin some lovin from Abby! The quickest tongue in the East!

Cuddlin' with Oscar. Brothers gotta stick together!

Oh the fun he can have with simple things :)

Taking frustration out on the blocks.

Helping mommy vaccuum!

Another concert from the accomplished musician!!

WALKING.....Finally!!!

Well, the 27th of February was my 27th birthday! Yipee....another year closer to 30 :( Has to happen eventually I guess! I worked on my ACTUAL birthday but had Fri, Sat, and Sun off to celebrate! Friday evening we went over to David's parents for dinner and celebration (where the next 2 pics are from). Opened WONDERFUL presents, ate ice cream cake, and played Sequence. The boys won 5 of 6 games :(
And to think it was MY birthday!! Haha! We had a really nice time....as always!

Luke finally decided it was time to walk. The days surrounding my birthday he was really getting into it. Having practice sessions at home. Falling down and getting right back up again to keep going. He's still crawling as well, but he's capable of making it the entire length of the kitchen now on 2's instead of 4's :) It's so cute to watch someone so little bobbling around. He never once has cried or gotten discouraged when he's fallen. He cries and gets discouraged by everything else, but not that :)

Luke has been healthy, but just yesterday, David was diagnosed with SHINGLES!! He has them on the left side of his face/head. He's pretty much down for the count. Everything is painful and his eye is swollen. Poor guy is on viral meds and Vicodin for pain. Please keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery and lessened pain! Praise the Lord I decided to get Luke vaccinated with the chicken pox vaccine!! Hopefully that will keep him protected! Other than that, we're just hanging out and keepin our fingers crossed that the weather episode this past weekend (which I had to work), is the finale to our winter (yeah right!) Still a ton of snow sitting in our driveway and walkway. Thank God for 4 wheel drive!

Birthday girl :)

The cake my hubby surprised me with!

Can you see me?

Showing me what's in his mouth while eating his PB sandwich. (yes that is part of the sandwich below his left eye :)

So yummy mamma! Not the neatest eater!

A picture from Monday March 3, when it was mid 60's out. We went for a ride around the block for the first time in Luke's wagon. He loved it! Hard to believe a few days later brought a foot of snow!

The wind in my hair and the sun on my face!!

A short video of one of the practice sesions at home. Chasing Holly :)

Is Winter Over Yet???

I'm going to say it again.....I'm sick of winter! Although it does in my mind give me an excuse to be lazy ( no washing cars, mowing grass, watering flowers, etc) and connotates sipping hot chocolate at night with my hubby, watching movies while the beautiful snow is coming down, this is not usually the reality! Instead it's sipping water inbetween making dinner for my hubby and feeding Luke and throwing in laundry and doing dishes.....getting home from work at 8pm or leaving for work at 6pm. Eating at 9pm myself after everyone is taken care of and things are cleaned up a little. So yes....bring on the car washing, grass mowing and flower watering. I just want to get outside of the house and have it be above 20 degrees! Go for walks with Luke in the wagon and play at the park. Anyhow, enough of that! Spring will be here sometime....just not soon enough. (In July I'll be complaining about the intense humidity and 95 degree days and still not being able to get outside cause it's too HOT! :) Bear with me :)

Onto more important things.

Luke has 4 official teeth with another on the way. They don't seem to bother him and he rather enjoys using them to gnaw on things. The only problem was when he accidently bit himself :)

He has mastered the stairs up and down.

LOVES climbing in the shower with daddy or me.

Clearly says "mom" "mom" now. Not even really ma ma....he adds the "m". He otherwise babbles up a storm thinking he's really talking.

He likes to play with the hand made wooden train the his great grandma Kandel got him.

Loves touchy feely books and his flash cards.

Likes just about any food we eat.....wants to feed himself of course.

Still not too interesed in walking.....lazy butt! He's just so quick on his hands and knees he knows he can get there fast. He may walk later than his mommy did (14 months).

When he lays down for bed time or naps, he points to his fishy mobile to turn it on and then points to the CD player for the music. Then giggles.

I just love baby feet, what can I say??

So does Luke I guess :)

I just love these few bath pictures and his cute little face and smile!! Love seeing those teeth finally!

Lookin at daddy :)

This is a relatively new face he likes to make.....attractive huh?

Another cute smile.

Mmmm, Mmmmm, good!

This was Luke's official first time out in the snow. Just decided to do it one afternoon. He's just checking it out with the tips of his fingers......

And this is how he decided he felt about it! He of course wouldn't put on a hat or gloves. If I had frostbite on my fingers I'd hate the snow too :)

Loving his birthday present. He likes to climb on and off it and push all the buttons. As far as riding goes though, he can only move it backward. Silly boy!

Luke stole daddy's cereal bowl (my husband is not normal.....that bowl is HUGE!) and poured the little bit of milk left in it on his head.

Sticky hair!

See what happens when mommy's at work.....baby gets drunk!

Thinking daddy's swiss army knife is a phone. I attribute this to the alcohol as well!

Playing wtih his wagon and blocks......throwing then out, putting them back in........

Update

Not a whole lot to update on, but I have a couple of cute videos and Luke's 1 year pics to post. He did have a mild case of the flu last weekend, but is fine now :) It's so awful to see your baby sick :(

Climbing the stairs :)

Ornery face!

"Counting" his pictures

Luke REALLY enjoys bananas!!

Awww....poor baby! :(

Now I'm happy!!

Luke's first ride in the big boy car seat.....that does NOT look comfortable ( He was riding with daddy by the way)

Below is the cornhole set that David painted for my parents (their Christmas present from last last year). I thought he did a GREAT job! So talented :)

Hmmm............
